App Of The Month – BET.co.za16 March 2017 ‐ 4 min read
The thrill of placing a bet just turned easier to enjoy. A simple and secure way to place your bets, BET.co.za is fully licensed and properly regulated through the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. Interestingly, this Board is the largest in South Africa, with more than thirty licensed bookmakers registered to operate in this realm.
But BET.co.za saw a unique opportunity for their users, and went for it, collaborating with our development studio to create a fluid and flexible experience that catered for every user need.
While the BET.co.za web interface offers patrons, punters and pundits an easy way to play, the new mobile application makes it even easier to enjoy the thrill of the game.
BET.co.za Goes Mobile
Adding a mobile application interface to BET.co.za’s popular platform was important to the team, but ensuring that users would enjoy a seamless experience was noted as a priority. BET.co.za’s mobile application is built for Android and iOS platforms, and users over the age of 18 can:
- Place their bets on any sport, game or race they choose to;
- Place bets for any amount of money;
- Enjoy the full betting experience;
- Get FICA verified on the move;
- Deposit money and,
- Receive fast payouts when they win.
Technical Challenges Faced
Of course, it was important for the BET.co.za and 4i team’s to ensure that the BET.co.za application responded and predicted users’ needs. BET.co.za’s user base is highly engaged, interested and the company is looking towards a mobile-first future. A highly technical application was required, that required a high level of once-off development and complex API integration techniques. Importantly too, the online betting space is a highly regulated realm, so we had to ensure that the application not only worked in accordance with every best practice guideline and applicable legislation, but that its security was sound, every step of the way.
It wasn’t just BET.co.za breaking new ground with this application, as the design and development process required our team to learn a lot on the go too. Our team dedicated itself to researching the user base, understanding user needs and developing the application in accordance with BET.co.za’s strategy. We conducted a number of rounds of all-important Usability Testing that saw active sports betters and punters explore and enjoy the application. We also looked carefully and creating easy-to-follow tutorials and simplifying the signup process as much as possible.
BET.co.za has a goal to move its user focus from web to mobile, as this offers users a higher level of freedom and flexibility. With BET.co.za’s solid marketing strategy, coupled with a robust mobile application and keen focus on making users’ lives easier, we’re looking forward to seeing how this application soars.
