Checkers approached 4i for a mobile-first solution to connect with their customers

As one of South Africa’s most-loved retail stores, Checkers is always innovating and keeping their consumers in mind. Their consumer-centric approach prompted a change in the retail customer experience through mobile coupon redemption, and being part of the Shoprite group

where over 72% of South Africa’s population shops, the potential was huge. Checkers approached 4i for a mobile-first solution that would enable them to connect with customers, and understand what they wanted from the retail shopping experience in order to market products better.

How We Solved It

Checkers can track individual shopping habits and send personalised communication to users

We built native apps for BlackBerry, Android and iOS devices that enable instant offline interaction with EeziCoupons and specials. Users can view geo-specific coupons and specials and add them to shopping lists for easy lookup in store. QR code scanning at tills provides one of the fastest redemption processes in South Africa. By incorporating smart-learning functionality, Checkers are able to track individual shopping

habits and send relevant, personalised communication to users based on their buying history. In addition, we built a backend and CMS with simple templates so their team can quickly and easily create campaigns across a mix of plain, rich or dynamic content. They're able to tag and track user journeys, see what users are consuming and how long they’re spending, enabling them to measure the effectiveness of each one.
